Paracelsus was right:
“The difference between a remedy and a poison is the dose.”
There is a trend circulating about ingesting essential oils. Or rather, there is a general trend surrounding essential oils. And now, suddenly everyone is talking about them, using them, selling them, and recommending them.
And suddenly MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE ENDING UP IN THE HOSPITAL DUE TO MISUSE OF ESSENTIAL OILS.
First of all, you need to understand what essential oils are and how they behave.
Not being an oil in the broad sense of the word, they have the same properties in relation to water: THEY REPEL EACH OTHER
Essential oils ARE NOT WATER-SOLUBLE – they do not mix with water! THEY ARE LIPOSOLUBLE – they dissolve in “fats”
Therefore, using oils placed in water, whether for drinking or bathing, is the same as applying them in their pure state to the skin or mucous membranes!
And this can be extremely dangerous!
Each essential oil is the equivalent of 10-50 cups of tea made from the same herb! But would anyone in their right mind consume that!?
Do people realize this?!
There are risks of:
- burns
- skin reactions
- intoxication at various levels
- hepatic reactions – in the liver, did you know?
- inflammation of mucous membranes
- interaction with medications
Safe use recommends first and foremost use in diffusers (even here there are risks!) and then topical application DULY DILUTED AND SUITABLE FOR THE INDIVIDUAL.
Children and babies, pregnant women, the elderly, and the sick must take CAUTION with the use and dosages!
The use of essential oils must be done with KNOWLEDGE and SAFETY.
Choose someone who can advise you, help you use them, and who will never, under any circumstances, play with your health or that of your babies and children.
