MASTER BLUFF
Contents: 48 cards; 5 alteration tokens; rules
Setup
Remove the 6 rule cards and the legend card from the deck. The oldest player shuffles and deals the cards face down to all competitors in equal numbers. Any remaining cards are placed in the discard pile. Distribute one alteration token to each player.
Gameplay
The player who discards all the cards in their hand first wins. The player to the left of the dealer starts by discarding one or more cards of the same type, declaring them aloud. The player discarding may lie about the card type, but must still declare that all cards are of the same type (e.g., "two goblins," "two wizards," "two witches" or "three fairies," "three ogres," "three jesters," and so on...).
If no one doubts the truthfulness of the declaration, the cards are placed in the discard pile, and the game passes to the next player, who must then discard cards of the same type as declared by the previous player (e.g., if the previous player declared "two fairies," the next player can declare they are discarding "four fairies"). Alteration Tokens
In turn, a competitor can play the alteration token, which allows them to change the type of card being discarded relative to the type declared by the previous competitor. The alteration token, once played, must be set aside.
Bluff
After the competitor discards and declares their cards, any opponent who believes the declaration is false can say "Bluff!". This serves to verify the truthfulness of the declaration, with two possible outcomes: if the declaration is true, the doubter will be penalized and must take all the cards discarded up to that point. Conversely, if the declaration is false, the declarer will have to take all the cards from the discard pile.
