Cypress is a tall evergreen tree that has been used since antiquity. Native to Southern Europe, most oils come from trees grown in France, Spain, and Morocco.
Cypress has traditionally been the tree of cemeteries.
Plato said that the cypress symbolized the immortality of the soul. The Egyptians used it in their sarcophagi because it was considered almost indestructible. Sempervirens means “live forever.”
