When choosing a coloring page, first look at the size of the spaces to color. That is what makes a child finish the drawing happy: large spaces for hands that are still scribbling, small spaces for those who already like to color inside the lines.

LargeFirst scribblesThick lines and a few large areas. The child paints with their whole arm and the drawing remains visible. Crayons and thick pencils are their best friends.
SimpleAlready coloring insideThinner lines and a dozen spaces, with details that make them want to switch colors: stripes, fins, windows.
DetailedFor the patientMany small spaces, patterns, and full backgrounds. It calls for sharpened colored pencils and time, and it is great for a quiet afternoon.
When the child starts moving up levels, it is handy to have both types printed on hand: the large one for quick coloring and the detailed one to show what they can already do.
