Memory and matching games: training attention through play

Finding pairs, associating images, or recognizing sounds and textures are the basis of memory and matching games. At Gotu, you will find everything from classic memory games, in cards or wooden pieces, to lotto and bingo games with themes of animals, numbers, or food.

Classic memory games

The game of flipping over and finding matching pairs is one of the first games with rules that a child can follow on their own, and it exists in versions with fewer pieces for the little ones and with more pieces for those who want a greater challenge.

Lotto and bingo

Lotto and bingo games bring several children together at the same table, with picture cards and tokens to cover them, and are a simple way to learn new vocabulary, colors, or numbers while waiting for their turn.

Matching and classification

Games of matching image to image, image to word, or grouping by category reinforce language and the ability to organize information, and are also useful in the context of stimulation and speech therapy.

How to choose

For younger children, prefer games with few pieces and large, simple images. As the child grows, increase the number of pieces or the complexity of the associations to maintain the challenge.

Frequently asked questions

From what age can you play the memory game?

There are versions adapted from 2 or 3 years old, with few large pieces. The number of pieces usually increases with the age recommended by the manufacturer.

Do memory games help in a child's development?

Yes, they train attention, visual memory and, in many versions, also language, when associating images with words or sounds.

What is the difference between lotto and a memory game?

In the memory game, the cards are face down and you need to find the pairs. In lotto or bingo, each player has a fixed card and covers the images that appear as they are called out.
