Costumes for playing, not just for one night

The costume box is one of the few things at home that withstands years of use. It’s where you keep the cape that doubles as a king, a wizard, or a superhero depending on the day, the hat that changes everything, and the outfit that has already been worn by three siblings. These costumes are from Den Goda Fen, a Swedish brand that makes pieces for everyday symbolic play, not just for a photograph.

Capes

The most versatile piece in the box. It goes on over clothes, comes off in a second, has a flexible fit, and lasts from age 3 to 8. There are dragon, witch, wizard, spiderweb, golden princess, and red velvet capes.

Full costumes

For when the child really wants to be the character: skeleton, pumpkin, monster, clown, Santa Claus, gingerbread man, angel, snowman. They come in two or three-piece sets, including a cap, hat, or mask.

Accessories and makeup

Witch hats, broomsticks, bat and dragon wings, pumpkin bags, headbands, and wands. And the makeup: matte paints, face and body markers, and biodegradable glitter, which are also great for birthday parties.

How to choose

If it’s their first costume, start with a cape. If the child already engages in pretend play with a specific character, a full costume is worth it. And if they already have a costume, a new accessory is a low-cost way to breathe new life into an old one.

  • Sizes are in centimeters of height, not age
  • One-size capes fit children from 3 to 8 years old
  • Mini capes fit children from 1 to 4 years old
  • Each product page lists what is included in the package

Frequently asked questions

From what age?

There are costume bodysuits from 6 months and mini capes from 1 year. Full costumes start at age 2.

Are the costumes machine washable?

Plain knit pieces can be machine washed on a cold, delicate cycle. Tulle, sequins, velvet, and appliqués require hand washing.

Can they be worn over winter clothes?

Yes, and that’s how they are used outdoors. The costumes are intentionally loose-fitting and the capes can be worn over a coat.

How long does delivery take?

These are pre-order items: we order from the brand as soon as your order comes in, so they take a few more days than the rest of the shop.
